Director of Design and Marketing
I was hired by IE; Blinds—a small, family-owned company that does nationwide business—to spearhead the development of a design and marketing department. As a result, my creative roles were very diverse: I worked as an industrial designer on building CAD models and evaluating design efficiency, a website architect alongside a remote coder, a graphic designer for both digital and print media, a videographer for instructional videos, a digital marketing manager, and more. I also managed communications and sample distribution to our brand representatives, worked alongside the sales department on resigning our job-tracking system, and helped the shop manager streamline production packets. As I gained confidence in balancing these roles and learned more about the company, I began to assist in other areas: from managing a small team on the production floor, to assisting customer service with creating outreach templates.
Together, my wide array of responsibilities afforded a comprehensive understanding of how IE; Blinds operates as a company. This allowed me to identify many opportunities for improvement in how its products are designed, marketed, sold, produced, shipped, installed, and used. This role, with all its variety, was undoubtedly a valuable learning experience.
